The Hottest Back to School Bags

There are two types of students in this world: those who wear backpacks and those who wear shoulder bags. Both are socially acceptable and have their pros and cons. If you enjoy having full frontal mobility and many compartments and can handle weight on your back, go with a backpack. If you want to spice up your outfit and free your back and don’t need a lot of space or your hands, go with a shoulder bag. Let’s see what Villanovans are wearing this season!

Borealis | The North Face

I bet at least half of the Villanova population, including myself, uses a North Face backpack, more specifically, the Borealis backpack. There's a good reason, though: these bags are durable, have many compartments, and are not as back-straining as other backpacks I’ve owned. Life hack- for more space, get the men's edition. I don’t understand why there are gendered backpacks, but that's a topic for another post.

Le Pliage | Longchamp

Honestly one of my favorite bags and brands. These bags are so versatile for school and one’s personal life; however, it’s not cheap. The classic Le Pliage runs for about $150, but it folds to save space and is made from recycled materials.

Villanova University Backpack | The Villanova Bookstore

This Nike backpack is a great bag: many compartments, comfortable fit, and affordable. However, unless you’re an athlete, this bag should not be on your back. It’s obvious this is THE athlete’s bag, so when someone with this bag turns around and their sport isn’t embroidered on the back, it’s catfishing.

Canvas Bags

Who doesn’t love a good canvas bag? Cheap, sustainable, trendy, and versatile. If only these bags had more support and a universal pocket, they’d be my number 1 recommendation for class.

A sturdy, chic, comfortable bag is game-changing, especially for our walk-heavy lifestyle. There also are “bag hotspots,” I like to call them: Bartley is filled with cute totes and Driscoll with large, supportive backpacks.

But no matter what bag you rock this school year, I hope it makes class-going a little less dreadful.
