There is no easy way to put it – the weather these days is close to unbearable. The combination of short amounts of daylight and below-freezing temperatures makes it hard for our seasonal depression not to rage. Additionally, the pandemic continues to force gatherings and events to be held outside, making it hard for any fashion choice to be put on display. Thus, taking the fun out of any situation.

In response, almost every brand has undertaken the challenge of creating a line of outwear. Here are some of the most popular coat trends to keep you warm this winter.

To begin, we have the classic puffer coat that has been in the spotlight for the past few years. One of the hottest renditions is Aritzia’s Super Puff (seen below on the left). This coat falls into perfect accordance with the oversized look, as well as coming in any color that fits your liking. If Aritzia’s coat is too pricey, countless brands like Old Navy (bottom right), Gap, and Target have much more affordable, and just-as-cute dupes.

Another favorite is the parka. One of the popular pricier options, but still a great investment to protect from frigid temperatures, is a Canada Goose. The Canada Goose Parka has become one of the most popular coats this winter, for both men and women. This classic coat ranges in a few colors that provide great insulation for the long trek across campus or through the city.

Newer styles that have been attempted by countless brands are the sherpa and shearling type of coat. This can be found in both a long trench or a short bomber. Either way, you cannot go wrong. Also, the typical light cream color of the fabric is chic, while the extra layer of fuzz provides lots of warmth making those days in the cold much more enjoyable.

For warmer days, or as another layer for under a coat, the “shacket” is a perfect choice. Is a piece of outerwear that has been done by both top designers and affordable brands, making this option a no-brainer.
