Bringing Back the Beanie

Taking Villanova by storm, beanies are all the rage this winter season! With the freezing cold affecting most students who walk to class outside, what better way to style your outfit than with a beanie?
Lots of students took to expressing their style with logos and colors of beanies. Besides the usual neutrals, brown has been all the rage this season, as well as neon colors. Some sororities have taken to this trend as well, with greek letters displayed on the rim of the hat.
As seen in the cover image, lots of Villanova students show school pride by sporting beanies with Vs loud and proud. Paired with your favorite Nova sweatshirt or sweatpants, this is a great way to show school spirit at tailgates or even just around campus. There is never a shortage of school pride here, and a Villanova beanie is no exception!
But how do you style a beanie? With neon at the forefront of trends in 2022, a classic way to style bright colors is with a contrast of black. Black puffers and flare leggings or leather pants are great choices, and if your style tends to be more masculine then a black quarter zip and tan pants or sweatpants would also be well-styled. If your vibe is more subtle in color, try out a brown beanie and style it with a flannel, a sweatshirt, or a turtleneck (my personal fav!), or with a crewneck and jeans.
A hat can be a great statement piece if you feel your outfits are getting stale. I know when I’m not feeling inspired for my 8:30 it can be hard to get out of sweatpants, but with a beanie on my head I can’t help but style an outfit to match.
Brands cycled back this season as they often do in daily wear trends, and a few should be credited for the return of the beanie.
Carhartt has been popular this season. With breathable yet thick designs for headwear, it’s no surprise the brand came back in a freezing winter season. Their lines of jackets and sweatshirts have been all the rage this season as well. The company’s price point for items makes its business model so accessible for Americans everywhere.
Another brand to note is Billionaire Boys Club. This company was founded by Pharrell Williams and is currently black-owned, and they have a line of beanies as well. This month is a month to celebrate and elevate black businesses, and in making your next beanie purchase consider these brands as well:

However you choose to style your beanie, the most important thing to consider is self-expression. It’s always great to look around campus and take inspiration from others!
