The idea of being “that girl” is an idea that has taken Tiktok and Instagram by force. As impressionable, yet busy, college students its hard to not beat ourselves up for our face passed lives that make it impossible for our fashion choices to fall line with the “that girl” trend.

Pushing aside the impossible diet and lifestyle of “That Girl” and looking just at the style, the minimalist and classy aesthetic has taken over. So, here are the basic fashion tips of the “that girl” trend to show how you can dress this way too.

Monochromes and Neutrals

Monochromes and neutrals set the tone of the aesthetic. Full black or white outfits are timeless. No matter what bottom and top combination, if they’re a monochromatic match, your outfit will give off the chic appearance you are looking for. It has become apparent how easy it is to turn a basic outfit into cool streetwear through wearing an all-black fit.  Browns, beiges, and army green have also been popular colors seen with this trend.

Blazers

Blazers have taken the fashion world by storm. As seen on Fall 2022 runways, Blazers are a staple that remain in the spotlight. Whether its oversized or cropped, a blazer is a perfect piece that makes any outfit sophisticated and elegant. Don’t be afraid to invest in a Blazer. Zara is a great place to find an affordable one, which will quickly become essential to your wardrobe.

Basics

Another favorite for everyday wear is just sticking to the basics. Sticking to your favorite pair of jeans, especially an oversized pair, and adding a white t-shirt or tank is another great everyday outfit. Other pieces like a button-down shirt, cardigan, or sweater work perfectly for this look.

Athleisure and matching sets

Another style staple is matching workout sets. Athleisure is a trend that has continued to be popular for everyday wear. We are especially seeing these matching being the starting point for layering, getting paired with blazers, sweatshirts, coats, or vests. Going back to monochromes, this is where that color palette has become one of the most common. Don’t be afraid to stay comfortable and rock monochrome leggings and a matching workout top to class with an overlayer. Some of the most popular brands seen are alo, lululemon, and set active, but don’t be afraid to search amazon for some amazing dupes.

Gold Jewelry

Gold Jewelry is timeless in the fashion world. When it comes to the “that girl aesthetic” it is the basis of dressing up those causal and neutral outfits. Especially, gold hoops, typically smaller and chunky, are essential for this look. Additionally, layering on simple necklaces, rings, and bracelets are an easy way to add that chic element to your look.

Beauty

When it comes to beauty, sticking to a simple and more natural look is better. Focusing on skincare and wellness is the basis of this aesthetic. The natural makeup look has become more popular than ever, so don’t be afraid to stray away from an extensive makeup routine and spend that time on skincare instead.

Hair

Lastly, having slicked back hair is another staple of this look. Try investing in a hair wax stick or hair oil to help pull the hair back, or just stick to hairspray. Having hair tight to your head and in a neat bun or claw clip gives of that same sense of sophistication and class that this style aims to convey.
