The holiday season is approaching fast and, even though this time of year holds a happy place in our hearts, we tend to forget that it can be a time of extreme stress. From figuring out where to spend Thanksgiving to finding the perfect Christmas gifts, the list of things to do is never-ending. On top of this, deciding what to wear is a whole separate stressor, typically left until the last minute. Especially with this upcoming season being (somewhat) back to normal, the number of outfits necessary might become, if not already, very overwhelming.

So, have no fear, we have narrowed down some of the top trends for the upcoming holiday season so you can avoid that unwanted worry.

Some of the styles that were in this fall are carrying over into our winter closets.

Specifically, the sequins and sparkles we saw all over the runway during fashion week are ever so prevalent this winter. When it comes to dressing up for any occasion, don’t be afraid to let your outfit shine brighter than your tree. For inspiration, check out the Retrofete X Revolve Mich Dress below.

Another trend that is still hot this year is layering. Except, in this case, layering with a blousy sheer top. This can spruce up any outfit and can be used countless amounts of times. It can also turn that comfortable turtleneck you have been in all day into a look perfect for celebrating. Whether it is over a cami or a basic long-sleeve, layering can add that extra element to your look necessary for fancier events. For inspiration, check out the REDValentino, Sheer Swiss dot Blouse below.

Now to get into one of my current favorites, we have leather. Vegan leather is all the rage these days. Not only are Aritzia’s iconic Melina leather pants trending significantly right now, but faux leather blouses, puffers, and tanks are everywhere. This fabric gives off a very sleek and elegant look that is perfect for any holiday party. I highly recommend investing in a piece made of vegan leather, you can dress it up or down, and I promise you will not regret it. For inspiration, check out the Aritzia Wilfred Melina Pant below.

To add to those sleek pieces, try not to shy away from those funky patterns and bright colors. Color blocking, as well as geometric patterns, are going to be all over this winter. So, instead of giving into the winter’s darkness, try to embrace the fun of the holidays and opt for brighter pieces. For inspiration, check out the Eloquii Checkerboard Coat below.

Similarly, when it comes to picking out accessories to top off your outfit, do not hold back! Chunky gold jewelry is hot in the fashion world these days, and what better place to embrace this trend than those holiday festivities? Whether it’s a big medallion or thick gold chain, the limit does not exist. Even if you don’t have one statement piece, try layering a few of your daintier ones, it will give off the same effect.
