Connecting Villanova University to the Fashion, Beauty, and Retail Industry

“BOF is more than a school club. Bof is a space to learn about the fashion industry and its trends, unlock ways to network directly with brands, and learn from professionals all while sharing our passion.”

Michelle Fierro, VSB ‘20, BOF co-Founder & President ‘18-‘20

“BOF is a community where like-minded people can learn about fashion and build deep connections with peers and professionals in the industry. BOF is a launchpad for a successful career in the fashion industry.”

Susie Hamman, VSB ‘19, co-Founder & Vice President ‘18-‘19

Meet our president, Deanna Jones

Hello! My name is Deanna Jones, and I am a Junior at the Villanova School of Business majoring in Marketing and Business Analytics.

I've known since a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. I was drawn to the fast-paced and creative environment that would give me the freedom to make an impact in many ways. My goal was to do my own research and explore possible career paths that would align with my interests. When I got into Villanova, I knew BoF was going to help me achieve this goal!

During my freshman year, I felt so welcomed into this community of students passionate about fashion and beauty. In just that first year, I was presented with so many unique opportunities that have shaped my experience at Villanova so far. Through speaking with industry professionals, engaging in workshops, and participating in immersive TREKS, I’ve gained crucial career-readiness skills tailored specifically toward fashion and beauty. As a sophomore, I transitioned into the role of Vice President and continued to help connect students with resources to be successful in this field.

I am extremely honored and excited to be serving as the President for this year! I look forward to executing enriching events for students who are interested in pursuing a career in fashion and eager to have conversations surrounding important industry topics. I am beyond grateful to be a part of BoF! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

Meet our Vice presidents

Meet Sidney

Hello! My name is Sidney Howell and I am going to be a senior in the Villanova School of Business. I am majoring in marketing and minoring in business law.

When I was a kid, I would always insist on dressing myself and wearing a princess dress everyday of pre-k. This love of fashion has only continued to grow and evolve my entire life, which led me to seriously consider pursuing a career in fashion. This led me to Business of Fashion's booth at the Student Involvement Fair, and I have been a member ever since.

I am so appreciative of my time in this society and grateful to be able to give back to it. I have learned so much from those around me and this club is an amazing way for any person to learn more about the fashion industry, possible career paths, and meet some very fashionable friends!

I am so excited to be the Vice President of Event Planning this year and can’t wait to be a part of such a great executive board. We hope to make BOF even more engaging and host events that will truly make a lasting impact. Just as I fell in love with both the creative and business side of fashion, we hope to bring these two sides to life and share this love with the rest of the club.

Meet Rebecca

Hello! My name is Rebecca Jorgensen and I am a junior marketing major and consulting minor in the Villanova School of Business.

Since I was young, I have always loved fashion and wanted to pursue a career in the industry. However, I never thought it was realistic without pursuing a design role. When I first arrived at Villanova, I found the Business of Fashion Society and discovered the business side of the fashion industry.

During my time in BoF, I have learned invaluable information about the fashion industry in a variety of fields. I networked with so many amazing alumni and learned from fellow students pursuing a career in fashion.

This year, I am thrilled to be the Vice President of Partnerships and Engagement for BoF. I am excited to bring more engagement opportunities to students through projects and events. Through these opportunities, I hope that students fall in love with both the creative and strategy sides of the fashion industry as I have.

Meet our Advisor,

Brenda Stover

Hello Business of Fashion Society members and ALL Villanova students interested in learning about career paths in the fashion and beauty industries! It’s my great privilege to serve as the Advisor of BOF. I was particularly interested in working with this group as my first job out of college landed me in an executive training program with a department store chain and eventually led to a role as a buyer – for knitwear, accessories, women’s sweaters, and maternity. My career path took a turn away from the fashion industry, but it’s always held a special place in my heart.

My “day job” is within VSB, serving as the Assistant Dean of the O’Donnell Center for Professional Development and serving on the leadership team for the Clay Center. It’s been exciting for the O’Donnell Center team to assist with the launch of the Business of Fashion Society in 2017 AND support the group as it has grown. When I assumed the role as Advisor to the group, I was excited to collaborate with the executive board more closely in expanding the community of, and opportunities for, students who are passionate about exploring ways to build a business career in the fashion and beauty industries. Those who have come before you have made great progress in building connections with front-line professionals (alumni and employers), developing the society “infrastructure” (Insta account, website/blog), providing opportunities to learn (general body meetings, career events, BOF Symposium) and landing jobs/internships in the field (Ralph Lauren, URBN, Bloomingdales’, Bergdorf Goodman, Tom Ford Beauty, MAC Cosmetics, Estee Lauder…and more!) BUT THERE IS MORE WORK TO BE DONE! We are excited to have you join in on the efforts to continue developing the Society. Important to note, the group is open to ALL VILLANOVA STUDENTS INTERESTED IN FASHION/BEAUTY, regardless of your college affiliation/major!

I’d appreciate getting to know you personally – feel free to stop in the Clay Center/O’Donnell Center (Bartley 1054) or email me at brenda.stover@villanova.edu to introduce yourself &/or set up a time to meet!
